Denmark’s Genesis
GeoCenter Møns Klint. The GeoCenter is a geology and nature center explaining the enormous forces of nature that creates continents and landscapes and define the conditions of life. The fundament of the center’s communication is the experience of rough nature around the cliff. The rugged and up to 130 meters high dramatic chalk cliffs are the essence of the history of Denmark’s genesis.
In interaction with the surrounding nature, we have recreated wildlife from the Cretaceous period as a digital experience with a multitude of interactive 3D animations from the giant swimming carnivorous dinosaur—the 15 m long mosasaur—to the tiny little coccolithophores, which are species of phytoplankton with a microscopic plating made of limestone (calcite). The cliff is to a large extent built of tiny bits of limestone from dead plankton.
